Award-winning documentary. The true story of Father Oliver O'Grady, a convicted child molester and pedifile who molested dozens of children (both male and female), and the cover-up by Bishop Mahoney of the Los Angeles Diocese---a cover up which stretches all the way to Rome and to then Cardinal Benedict, now the Catholic Pope. O'Grady only served 7 years and is now living freely in Ireland.

Liya Kebede plays real-life model Waris Dirie, a Somalian who was circumcised at 3 years old in a very painful sewing up of the skin, where her vagina is. Often these children die from germs or when they become adults have no sexual enjoyment, because the circumcision destroyed their sexual pleasure sensors. They are expected by their mother and tribe to remain sewn up until they are married, but in this case (and in many others) women who leave their village have a tremendous sense of guilt...

Disappearances

In 1932 backwoods Canada a man smuggles whiskey and deals with a supernatural character. A good film of down-home characters, despite the scenes when men are killed smuggling whiskey. Good triumphs over evil and a man's sordid past manifests present evils. Native American Gary Farmer plays his usual charming self, as a big man with a huge heart—a very lovable screen presence. Genevieve Bujold is an actresses' actress and is quite believable as a shamaness. Kris Kristofferson is quite ...

Joaquin Phoenix could very easily get an Academy Award for this film, but the Academy never gives people what they deserve (very seldom) because it’s all politics. However, every alcoholic ought to see this film. Superb acting by Rooney Mara, who falls in love with him in his physical disability. Jack Black does a fine job in playing Dexter, who is also an alcoholic and is quite believable. Jonah Hill does a wonderful job playing an alcoholic who overcomes his addiction and becomes a ...

Eat Pray Love

Eat Pray Love surprised me to be a really good spiritual movie with great messages. Julia Roberts played her part very well trying to discover herself, which was after a divorce and broken hearts. She learned sometimes love is not enough and that people separate for a variety of reasons in their early years, and often one feels betrayed by the other because that one is more in love with the other than the other is in love with them. In her self-discovery, she goes to Italy and enjoys...

Willem Dafoe plays a Catholic priest who tries to protect a Jewish boy from the Nazis. The story has many touching moments, and the little boy (played by Haley Joel Osment) is very lovable boy and your heart goes out to him. This film shows the courage of those who stand up for what is right. It's well worth watching.
