Angelina Jolie did a wonderful job of showing the horrors and realism of war, although in the kingdom of God to come, many of the scenes could have been done by "the art of suggestion." Instead, she shows rape several times. Violence, unfortunately, is the horrible truth of war, where men lose their moral standards and do things based upon hatred and fear. She captured this kind of horrible violence excellently. The acting by all was very good. The movie is sobering, and I warn you, it may be...

This film depicts the horrors of inhumanity to others because of race or religion. This war took place in Lebanon in the 1970s between Christians, Moslems, and Jews. It's a tragic story of a young woman raised in religious fundamentalism who suffers unbelievable grief and loss and ends up in prison for many years. During her time in prison, she is tortured and raped. Yet, the story has an unbelievable redemption. The film has tremendous realism, and it's just like you are there, ...

Oliver Platt plays an American journalist, who is Jewish and has German origins, who goes underground in a Neo-Nazi group, pretending to have an interested investor to give to the Neo-Nazi cause. This made-for-TV movie is actually a really good film that shows, even in the 1990s (and probably even today), the hatred that exists towards Jews and blacks and people of color in Germany. It does have some violent scenes, so be aware.

United States/United Kingdom/French drama—This film was nominated for Oscars in two categories, sound and cinematography, but Oscar Isaac's acting, singing, and playing was the highlight of the film. This film, for him, was a blessing I am sure, as he definitely was made for this part. I do not know if he was an actor before a singer/songwriter, but he has become known as an actor and his audience is surprised that he is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. He is a starseed and, ...

A true story of Christopher McCandless who leaves his comfortable suburban life style, family, and a Harvard education to travel across the United States with no money with a goal of ending up living in the wilderness of Alaska. This film clearly shows the difference between a starseed soul with Urantian (first-light soul) parents and the starseed soul's higher understanding of the superficiality of third-dimensional life and thinking. The film is full of emotional and sensitive moments with ...

Invictus

Drama

I was hesitant to see Invictus because I didn't think that the movie would do justice to the integrity and courage of Nelson Mandela, but I was overjoyed and emotionally affected by the beautiful portrayal of Nelson Mandela by Morgan Freeman, as well as the direction of Clint Eastwood and the writing to bring out the qualities of such a great soul of a Nelson Mandela. If we only had leaders like him in every country: a leader who did the right thing even though the majority ...
