The Legend of 1900, written by Allessandro Barrico and Giuseppe Tornatore (who also directed the film) and starring Tim Roth and Pruit Taylor Vince, was a most magnificent film–a sleeper which should have gotten the Academy Award the year it was made.  I'll try not to give too much of the plot away, just enough to get the idea of the film–then you can run down to store and get it.  It was about a boy born on a steamer who grows up on the boat and becomes a virtuoso pianist–never going ashore.  The wonderful wisdom of the film in its dialogue is beyond superb.  There is a monologue between a pianist and a trumpet player that has to be listened and re-listened to in order to get all of its wonderful wisdom.  The acting by all involved was simply breathtaking.  From the very beginning of the film to the end you will not be able to take your eyes and heart away from it.  More films like this need to be produced.  Americans need to stop going to films that are less so that better films are made.  This was an Italian film.  Need I say more?
